The Gulf of Maine

I am a physical oceanographer by training working towards understanding the physical processes driving the upper ocean variability relevant to predictions across time-scales. As a climate scientist I seek to enhance our understanding of the mechanisms driving subseasonal-to-decadal scale variability in the global upper ocean.

Until August, 2025 I was employed by the Science Applications International Corporation as a scientist at Environmental Modeling Center in National Weather Service, NOAA, College Park, Maryland. Through community-wide collaboration, I worked in developing NOAA’s next generation Unified Forecast System for subseasonal to seasonal timescale predictions using a coupled model that includes atmosphere, ocean, sea-ice, land components. As a member of the Dynamics and Coupled Modeling group within the Modeling and Data Assimilation Branch of the EMC, I focused on the ocean component of the coupled model development. My work involved building strategies, metrics and process based diagnosis of the coupled model forecasts and trouble shoot issues leading to further model development using high level model diagnostics.
