The Gulf of Maine

I am a physical oceanographer by training working towards understanding the physical processes driving upper ocean variability relevant to predictions across time-scales. As a climate scientist I seek to enhance our understanding of the mechanisms driving subseasonal-to-decadal scale variability in the global upper ocean.

Being employed by the Science Applications International Corporation, I work as a scientist at Environmental Modeling Center in National Weather Service, NOAA, College Park, Maryland. Through community-wide collaboration, I work in developing NOAA’s next generation Unified Forecast System for subseasonal to seasonal timescale predictions using a coupled model that includes atmosphere, ocean, sea-ice, land components. As a member of the Dynamics and Coupled Modeling group within the Modeling and Data Assimilation Branch of the EMC, I develop process understanding, and deliver forecast diagnosis to trouble shoot issues leading to further model development using high level model diagnostics.
